The linen discharge is set at the bottom of linen chutes to allow exiting of laundry. The door is held open by springs and fusible link(s), which will close in the event of fire preventing further spread of the fire through the chute. The door comes with slam latches as well.
The bottom of a linen chute must be protected by a listed automatic closing or self-closing fire door. It must terminate and discharge directly into a room having a minimum fire resistance rating equivalent to the chute’s enclosure. Hopper-type discharges typically used for linen are top-hinged and held open by chains with a 165°F fusible link.
